Surah Al Fatiha, which means ‘The Opening’, is the first chapter of the Glorious Quran. The seven short verses that make up the chapter are recited a set number of times in each obligatory prayer a Muslim performs. It is also recited in voluntary prayers. It would not be surprising if a Muslim search for ‘best Surah Al Fatiha art’ or ‘Surah Al Fatiha canvas art’ in order to decorate the walls of his homes with it.

Given below is Pickthall English translation of the chapter:

1) In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

2)Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,

3) The Beneficent, the Merciful:

4) Owner of the Day of Judgment,

5) Thee (alone) we worship; Thee alone we ask for help.

6) Show us the straight path,

7) The path of those whom Thou hast favored; Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.

The virtues of reciting Surah Al Fatiha as mentioned in the Hadith are given below:

  1. Umm ul-Quran/Kitab (‘Mother of the Quran/Book’): Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: “The chapter commencing with ‘All praises and thanks are due to Allah the Lord of the Worlds’ is the Mother of the Quran, the Mother of the Book, the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses and the Great Quran.” (Tirmidhi)
  2. Sab’ul-Mathani (‘The Seven Oft-Repeated Verses’): It is also named Sab’ul-Mathani (Arabic for ‘the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses’), because they are recited in every rakaah (round) of prayer. Allah says in the Quran (Chapter 15, Verse 87): ‘And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur’an.’
  3. No prayer is complete without the recitation of this chapter. The Prophet (SAW) said, “Whoever does not recite Surah Al Fatihah in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.” (Sahih Al Bukhari).
  4. Ash-Shifa/Ar-Ruqyah(‘The Cure’).It is so named due toAd-Darimi’sreporton the authority of Abu Sa’id that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The Opening of the Book is a cure to every poison.” Also, a companion once recited Al-Fatiha over a scorpion bite, to which the Prophet (SAW) commanded him saying, “How did you know it was a ruqyah (cure)?”
  5. It was sent from Heaven as a light. An Angel addressed the Prophet (SAW) saying, “Rejoice in two lights brought to you which have not been brought to any prophet before you, Al-Fatiha and the last verses of Al- Baqarah.”

It is pretty much clear from the above that Surah Al Fatiha is a very significant passage of Glorious Holy Quran – it is repeated several times daily in prayers, and is also recited as a cure for an ill person. No surprise therefore that people look for bestSurah Al Fatiha art such as Surah Al Fatiha art canvas in order to decorate the walls of his homes with it.
